Not a great first impression. I’m a 41 year old woman who was transferred here from the hospital because I suddenly lost my ability to walk. I am currently sharing a very hot room sandwiched between two elderly women. The first thing I saw when I was brought in was a giant roach on the wall. When I brought it up they said they try to keep the facility clean but still have roaches. This was very disturbing. There are also senior residents in the common area right outside my room that scream and yell and bang things for hours at a time. I’m trying to block out the noise but it’s difficult. I’ve basically been told there’s nothing they can do about it. I’m left waiting for any nursing staff to attend the call button for well over 20 minutes or more at a time. Edit: I was left on a bedpan and the call button is useless. They don’t pay attention to it. I had to call the front desk main number to get anyone to come help me and by that time I just got so frustrated sitting in my own mess because I can’t walk that I found some wipes and cleaned myself up. By time the CNA came in I was done. If that was the case they should have told me to do it myself instead of being left hovering over a bedpan for 20 minutes. I had been waiting an hour for pain medication. The problem is I’m still too cognisant compared to the majority of the population here and being left in pain in my excrement bothers me. I was told tonight that if I needed changing during dinner time I had to wait for my other two elderly roommates to finish their dinner before that was possible. I did not want to sit in my excrement for another 30 minutes after already waiting 20 minutes for someone to answer the call button. I got out of bed even though I can’t walk and dragged myself on the floor into the bathroom to clean myself up again. They treated me like I was a bad child, when I was a fully grown woman who was tired of sitting in my own mess. I also did not receive a hot meal tray because they said I was “new” even though I had been here for 2 days and filled out and submitted a menu, I was given a cold turkey sandwich with one piece of cheese and two pieces of turkey on it for my dinner Sunday night and a salad which was just a bowl of lettuce with no dressing and butterscotch pudding. Not much of a meal for what they’re charging. I keep getting lost in the shuffle because they don’t what to do with someone who is half the age of the general population here. The staff also talks down about the other patients while they’re in the room with another patient. They did it right in front of me while changing the elderly woman next to me. If I’m upset about something they always have an excuse at the ready to cover that is supposed to make me feel like I’m a burden on them for also having needs. Tell your loved ones not to have a bowel movement during meal times or they will have to wait until everyone is finished with their meals. I had to learn this the hard way. Also they never get my name right, they always call me Christina not Christiana. If I have to spend a month or more here I need to look into getting transferred somewhere else as I have barely survived the weekend as it is.

I went here to visit a friend who’s in temporary recovery. We all live in the backcountry of San Diego East County. It’s difficult to follow up doctor’s appointments, with the long drive to town. If you’re fortunate enough to have a doctor who will set you up in a facility like this can be wonderful. My friend really likes this place. Everything is like it’s brand new. Her room is huge. She has a beautiful view out her window of a flower garden. They have a sidewalk path that goes completely around the facility and my friend went on that walk while visiting and wanted to go around again. She’s doing really well, and a lot is probably contributed to her living situation at Villa Las Palmas Healthcare. The only complaint she had was, some nights a patient or two acts crazy, yelling, but the staff does what they can to try to calm the patient down. Some are suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. They don’t know where they are. Unfortunately. This review is asking about the pricing. That I would not know. I know it was being paid by a medical insurance. Which could mean it’s probably priced fairly reasonably or they would go through another facility.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident My husband is staying in Villa Las Palmas Healthcare Center. I like the openness of it, the idea of the dining area, and the overall friendliness of the staff. He’s in a typical room. There’s nothing that would be detrimental to his well-being, and he has a very open space. They help him with his medication and personal care, ensuring that he showers and all of that, making sure that he’s safe. From what I’ve seen, the activities were suitable for their clientele. There’s physical and occupational therapy.

Some of the staff are theives. Had an expensive watch i gave my uncle, someone took it. We have the person pinpointed, but HR there wouldn’t do anything about it. He also had clothing ripped off. My Uncle hates it there. People at the front desk are very friendly though.

I can’t say enough good things about Villa Las Palmas Healthcare Center. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, professional, and welcoming. The facility is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out, with bright, open spaces and a peaceful outdoor patio that residents truly enjoy. The staff is the heart of this place. Every nurse, CNA, and therapist I encountered was kind, respectful, and attentive to every resident. You can tell they care deeply about what they do. Kudos to the social services team, Normalynn, Jelene, Melissa, and Cryztal!

I have nothing but praise for this place. They keep the center clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. My mom really liked the food. Big shoutout to Jalene and Kristal Social workers and to Edwina Manager. I couldn’t have understood how to deal with the difficult situation I was in without them. Sooo grateful for all of you!

We had the best skilled nursing facility(SNF) experience here for our beloved grandmother. After over a year of making calls to try to move her to a closer facility for our family visits, Claudia was finally able to make it happen for us. She and I had been in touch weekly for over a year and she never lost her patience with me or got annoyed when I called the way other places did. Instead she was apologetic when there wasn’t an available bed. The admissions staff was very caring, detailed and informative from the beginning till end. We stayed in close touch with Crystal through the care conferences, when my grandmother had to be sent to the hospital and back, along with when she had to go on hospice. Crystal is kind and considerate. The staff took care of her through her occupational and physical therapy sessions with Alicia and Melody. She was able to self feed and sit up right in a wheelchair again. They got her moving more than she did at her previous SNF. Her dieticians Zakirah and Yesica provided a great diet for her that she enjoyed until she couldn’t anymore. I let them know she loves her sweets and they helped make it happen. Her last bites before she passed were pudding and Ensure fed to her by her nurse supervisor, Vivian, who took extra special care during the last days. They built a connection because Vivian spoke Vietnamese to her so naturally our grandma took a liking and was more responsive. Vivian even took the time to stay a little later so she could feed breakfast to her. Dan (charge nurse maybe?), was very detailed, gentle, and graceful in his responses when I called to ask questions about her status. And when he had to break the news, I felt the empathy in his voice over the phone. Her other RN’s and CNA’s (I’m sorry I don’t remember everyone’s names) including Adona, have all been a lovely presence in her final stages. My grandma always appeared very clean and fresh and lovely at every visit. The janitorial team is fantastic at what they do too, keeping the facility clean and spotless. Protective PPE is always organized and right outside the door for easy use. It doesn’t smell like a SNF. Her last SNF didn’t smell clean. Highly recommend this facility and their staff! Thank you for all you have done to take care of her with care, respect, and dignity till her last breath.

My husband has been there for over a month. They mean well and try to do their best. There are some very knowledgeable people there and many that don’t know what to do. There are not enough CNAs for the amount of patients. My husband waits over an hour for a brief change and doesn’t get hardly any breakfast as it is cold by the time they finally take his BiPap mask off. Overall it’s not a really bad place, but it’s not a good fit for my husband. They just cannot be consistent with their care. My husband loves the PT that he gets. The PT there is pretty good. I think they could do a little more, but they seem to know what they are doing. Part of the problem is not enough CNAs as my husband needs the hoyer for transferring right now and it’s hard to find someone available.

This afternoon, I had the pleasure of going to Villa Las Palmas skilled nursing facility to assess one of their patients. It has changed so much in the past few years in a very good way. Their patients seem so happy as well as their staff. The building is very clean and you can tell there has been some renovations done. Major improvements have been made in all areas for sure. During my assessment the patient’s CNA Isabella Rios came into the patients room and politely asked if she may have a moment to take his vital signs. Her interaction with the patient as she took his vital signs, you can tell she genuinely cares, She was very patient with him, explained to him step-by-step what she was doing, Spoke to him in a soft voice, And bent down down to speak to him at eye-level since he is in a wheelchair. After she was finished taking his vital signs, I asked if I may have a moment with her to ask a few questions to complete my assessment. She spent A good amount of time going over all of the patients care needs as well as improvements he has made and what He is currently working on in physical therapy. I Was very Impressed with how much information she was able to provide me about the patient . I had an overall great experience and will Definitely be referring Skill nursing going forward.

My love one was at VLP during the COVID outbreak. All the staff, non-clinical, nursing staff, and therapy staff were very caring was excellent. He was there for almost 2 months and was nursed back to health and was able to walk himself out of the building into to the car and home with the family. Out gratitude to VLP and all the staff for providing excellent service and care.
